This song is about a soldier during WWI who looses his arms/legs/eyes/nose/ears/mouth/... in other words, hes completely fucked up! He is basically just a blob of meat waiting to die.

This song is based of the movie Johnny Got His Gun, (which was originally a book) THis music video has clips from Johnny got his Gun in it.

When Metallica made this music video, they had to get copyright permission from the creators of Johnny Got His Gun. They found it easier just to buy the copyrights to the whole movie, lol, yes, Metallica does own the movie "Johnny Got His Gun"
